So you were told to build an email list, to create a lead-magnet for every blog post you write, and eventually, once your email list got big enough, you would eventually be able to sell…something.
So you did it. You created that lead magnet, you built your email list (kind of) and nothing is happening. Or maybe it is happening but you feel like you’re on the verge of exploding and giving up because all of the content you’re creating is just too dang exhausting.
But before you chuck up the deuces and quit, know that I know exactly how you feel because I’ve been there too.
In 2016, I grew an email list of approx. 1000 people, and not one person bought a single course or a program from me. And in total, I sold about $100 worth of $17 ebooks.
It wasn’t until I stopped focusing on building my email list fast (you can read more about that, here) and started focusing on what kinds of content that I could create that will increase my authority and trust with my audience, did I start making real money in my business.
I launched my YouTube channel and before I had 100 YouTube subscribers, I sold a 4-figure coaching package.
My eyes nearly fell out of my head. I couldn’t even sell a $400 group coaching program with $89 payment plans to 1000 people, how in the HECK did I possibly sell $2000+ packages with LESS than 100 subscribers?
Then I did it again. And again. And again.
From that point on, I knew I had cracked the code. There was magic in showing up in your business in a really big way.
Who knew, a year later I would be selling $5,000 coaching packages and now $10,000 coaching packages.
And I did all of this even though….
- My website was a hot mess the ENTIRE year (Barely working…some days it was down)
- My lead magnet was ALL WRONG
- I only communicated with 25% of my email list (the rest were no longer my ideal clients.. See how I fudged this in this post HERE)
Some people only made $15,000 in their business the entire year of 2016. And here I was in December, making $15,000 in ONE MONTH.
I did all of this because I stopped implementing another marketing funnel, another email list building strategy and I started focusing on what ended up being the #1 money-making activity in my business which is my Personal Brand.
WHY YOU DON’T NEED ANOTHER FREAKING MARKETING TIP!
Look, most people won’t tell you this because going deep into someone’s business and their messaging requires DEEP soul work. And guess what, they want you to buy their course which pretty much eliminates the deep soul work part.
You can’t package this in a course.
You can’t teach someone this in an ebook.
This type of game-changing work is custom to each business because often times it requires a mentor to step in and help someone understand the ROI of their actual talents and WHY their customer NEEDS them. This isn’t cookie cutter. Each person is different.
All of those marketing systems that everyone keeps trying to shove down your throat, isn’t useless. Yes, it definitely BRINGS the traffic in.
But it’s how people feel about YOU that actually makes them say YES to your high-end offers.
So if you missed that, the reason why people aren’t buying from your coaching program and online business is because they’re not sure how they feel about YOU.
- They LOVE your valuable content (duh, that’s why they keep downloading your freebies), they just aren’t sure if YOU are valuable.
- They don’t really understand what you actually do.
- They aren’t sure if what you do will actually work for them and question whether or not it is possible for them to receive the results they desire.
A customer that is confused about any of these three, isn’t going to buy jack squat from you.
This isn’t something you can fix with a marketing system.
If you don’t understand why YOU and your skills are the answer that someone out there is PRAYING for, then you will never be able to create the content that is going to make your marketing system WORK for you.
The answer to your problems is not mastering another marketing system, it’s about mastering your Personal Brand.
Your Personal Brand is how you show up in your business and communicate to your audience.
Sales come with ease once you realize that sales are the result of good conversation.
Unless you know how to communicate to your dream client why YOU are the dream coach for them, your marketing system will never work.
