How to Build an Online Business when you HATE selling!

Many people hate selling or they’re just not all that good at it (including myself). The problem is, we can’t just ignore “sales”.  Sales are the heartbeat of your business and without sales, you can’t have a business. So it’s time to quit ignoring this problem like it’s ever gonna go away.

If you hate being salesy, you don’t like sales funnels, and creating complex email sequences doesn’t excite you, the best way around this is to build a Personal Brand.

Personal Branding is when an individual uses their personal values, lifestyle choices, personality and reputation to market their business.

[sc name=”Lead Magnet”]

A Personal Brand allows you to sell by just sharing your life with others.

By sharing your personal story through lifestyle content and using it to connect with your audience through common beliefs and ideals, you cultivate a community where you then become an Influencer.

As an Influencer, you have influence over your communities purchase decisions.

Some people use this influence to sell other peoples products via brand collabs and sponsorships. Think the typical setup you see with Beauty Gurus, Fashion Bloggers, etc

Others use this influence to sell their own products and programs. Think Marie Forleo, Gary Vee, Chiara Ferragni, ItsMyRayeRaye, Michelle Phan, Gina Devee and Rachel Aust.

Here is how Personal Branding helps your sales process:

  • If you don’t have a Personal Brand, you’re going to have to pay for ads to promote your business.
  • If you don’t have a Personal Brand, you’re going to need an email sequence with a lot of nurturing.
  • If you don’t have a Personal Brand, you’re going to have to get on sales calls.

Being the face of your brand definitely makes your business run smoother because you don’t have to work as hard for sales. Surprisingly, it’s incredibly freeing too.

Here is how it helped me:

I remember the moment I announced to my audience that I silently suffered.

To just get it out there: “Hey I have anxiety and depression and building this business just sucks sometimes.”

Beyond it being super freeing to just finally get it out without worrying about what people would think about me, it also gave me another layer of my story I could tell, another way to make an impact, and another way I could communicate on days I just don’t have anything to say to my community because I’m feeling anxious and scared again.

Instead of going idle, I just tell people that today was hard but I showed up anyways.

And instead of going into hiding, now I’m embraced by a warm community that often times tells me that today was hard for them too.

Then we collaborate and we figure out this thing together.

This my friends, is so much easier than mulling over emails you’re not even gonna send, and salesy FB Lives that you don’t want to do.

It allows you to sell through your content instead.

Nothing feels better than not having to work hard for a sale.

When I do hop on Discovery Calls, my potential clients pretty much just ask me the details about my coaching program and then ask me how can they make a deposit.

Why is this?

Because most of my sales process is happening through my social media posts and emails. Because I have a solid grasp on my messaging, by the time that people hop on the call with me they already know they want to work with me.

This is why Personal Branding rocks!

As a person that identifies as an Artist, sales can suck the soul out of me. Nothing can kill my creative vibe more like being deep in the masculine energy.
