July CEO Report: Oh God, We’re Trying to Do What?!

Finally, We have July’s CEO Report! I know I was supposed to have this up last Friday, but I actually ended up revisiting some of the goals for August and as a result, I needed to revise the report.

To make this report as clear as possible, I’ve decided to revisit our big goal and share with you my WHY before laying out what what our plan of action is.

What am I trying to accomplish? What are our big goals and why are they so damn ambitious?!

As I mentioned two weeks ago in the kick off report, Spring 2019, I am launching a membership program. And if you didn’t already know, membership sites are a lot different than courses and 1:1 coaching.

Membership sites tend to have a 3 month turnover.

Which means each member typically only maintains their membership for 3 months and then they cancel.

This is why a lot of people struggle with them.

Either they’re overwhelmed by the thought of all the content they may have to produce to keep it going OR they’re producing content, but they’re not able to really build the platform they envisioned, because there are more members leaving than signing up.

I plan on launching a membership site that is built around highly-produced, high-level content for my community. And to be honest, I would love for the membership site to pay for itself so I am not in the hole.

I want to accomplish two things:

  1. I want to grow my current community to 10,000 people.
  2. I want to build a deeper connection with the audience I currently have.

#2 for me is way more important than number one. I really want to create a poppin culture.

Culture to me is more important than sales. I could not imagine launching a membership and the community is all wrong. I need to be with my peeps.

Why do I have such astronomical goals? Is a big community really necessary?

A big community is not necessary to make a crap ton of money. I’ve seen people make a quarter of a million a year with an email list smaller than 500 people. I personally have made between 4 and 5-figures each month, half-ass posting on Instagram.

I believe that a community is great for three things:

  • Great for handling turnover in a Membership Program
  • Great for people like me that want to make a really HUGE impact (My personal goal is to help 1 milli women).
  • Great for people like me that want to create income streams through brand collaborations, book deals, speaking gigs and more.

At the end of the day, people that become Influencers get more glamorous opportunities than those who limit themselves to becoming a Facebook Coach.

If you are creative or multi=passionate, build your audience.

For example, I love to write books. Penguin is more likely to publish one of my books if I have 30k followers than if I have 500 ( or you can self-publish of course).

But hey, a girl’s got big dreams and one of those involve a major publishing company.

It just is what it is.

Here are the platforms we’re focusing on growing.

  • Facebook Groups – Currently at 332 members, plan on getting to 1000 by December 31st, 2018.
  • YouTube Channel – This is the platform I mainly use to build my brand, goal is to get this platform to 5000 subs by December 31st.
  • Instagram –  In December 2017, I ended up in the hospital due to extreme stress and had to take 30 days off from my business. Instagram just so happened to be a casualty and I never returned back to it like I was using it before. With that said, I’m not even sure if I posted more than 3x on Instagram in July. Goal is to grow this account from 1336 where we’re currently at to 2500 people by December 31, 2018.
  • Email List – Just had a 292% increase in email signups in July compared to the previous month of June. Will be focusing on growing this. Email lis building is important to me because I do not want to spend my career relying on Facebook Groups to sell. I want to be able to sell my products and services without me having to sell them. (Will go deeper into this in another post). Goal is to build an email list of 4000 people. After I purge the thousands of people that are currently on the list that aren’t right for the new direction we’re going in, that probably leave us with at least 3,700 new people on the list. Talk about ambitious!

Here is how I plan on growing them.

First, I want to work smarter not harder. The biggest mistake Entrepreneurs make is that they think that in order to grow faster, they have to work 10x harder.

My goal is to actually decrease my workload so that I can make more money and grow my community quickly.

To do this, I will be focusing on doing activities that have the most impact or better yet the best ROI.

Here are some immediate changes I will be making for August:

Less original blog content:

Will continue to post two blog posts per week. Changing schedule from Monday’s and Friday’s to Monday’s and Wednesdays but only ONE of those pieces of content will actually be fresh new written content. The other pieces of content will either be a YouTube video or podcast with a short summary.

Repurposing more content:

I don’t want to be overwhelmed with content creation, so I am going to be doing more repurposing

This means that…

  • Emails  I send to my list might also be Facebook Posts in my Group.
  • Creating more pin graphics for old blog posts and and repinning those versus creating a ton of new posts.
  • Using social platforms to cross promote to each other. For example, use my YouTube channel where 50% of my viewership aren’t my actual subscribers to get them to follow my Instagram or join my group.

Here is how we will do it:

Pinterest Marketing

Pinterest is my favorite platform for getting FREE traffic. At one point, I was getting 10,000 page views per month from Pinterest, but then I let my Pinterest fall to the wayside. It fell so bad that now we’re down to 3k views per month. I’m not mad at it. But its pretty much 100% automated, and I just check in 30 minutes a week to make sure I am mixing some fresh new content in with pinning my own stuff.

Pinterest is my primary platform that I use to grow my email list.

(Currently getting 7-10 sign ups to my email list per day. Back in June I was getting like 1 sign up every couple of days because I had abandoned Pinterest and wasn’t all that focused on growing my list.)

Facebook Group Promo Days

This is so easy, yet I don’t do it enough. Most Facebook Groups I am apart of have special promo days where you can promote your freebie, and easily you can get 10-100 signups in one day. If I just focused on promoting my freebie in one group per day (based on their individual promo days), at the very least I could get 70-700 new people on my list per week, with really only 5 minutes of my time.

New Content Every Day

Although I said I want to work LESS, I still want to get on top of my content game. Here is why I care about content:

  • People lose attention fast.
  • Brands / Thought Leaders that dominate attention from the market usually are the ones that win.
  • I want to build a really deep connection with my community
  • I want to be seen as a reliable expert.

So my goal is to have a new piece of content that can come out M-T & Fri be a wrap-up day.

Monday – New Original Blog Post

Tuesday –  New YouTube Video

Wednesday – New Podcast Episode + coordinating blog post

Thursday –  New YouTube Video

Friday – Do an email wrap-up or Instagram story about of all the content released earlier that week because of course people missed something.

Outside of this, my goal is to be active in my Facebook Group and Instagram on Monday through Friday with the weekends off.

I’m officially declaring the weekend as the two days a week I get to detox from anything digital.

And yes, to get all this done, I will be batching ALL of my content so that I am not scrambling to create content each week.

More Thoughtful Collaborations

Now that I’m launching a podcast, I am going to use this as a platform to do more collaborations.

Collaborations are actually one of the smartest and fastest ways to grow your biz because you’re joining forces with someone else, and essentially exposing each other to your individual brands.

This way, your brand is shown to new faces as your interviewee promotes the interview to their audience.

And their brand gains exposure because you’re promoting them to your peeps!

Win-Win situation.

Did I mention this is also a really really really fast way to grow your community fast and furious?

I used this tactic to help grow one of my clients to well over 50,000 followers.

Summary

Welp that’s pretty much it guys.

I estimate that it will probably take 40 hours to create all of the content I need to succeed this month but again I batch. I call this my creative week where I take one an entire week to focus on content.

So for example, I’ll write all my emails on Monday. Tuesday, I’ll format those emails and schedule them. Wednesday, I’ll write all my blog posts. Thursday, I’ll format those blog posts and schedule them.

Thursday I’ll take the day off.

Friday, I’ll film four videos. Edit Friday in the evening and the entire day Saturday.

This is normally a really intense week for me but it’s so worth it.

That way I can do some spontaneous videos for YouTube, and only have to worry about maintaining my podcast every other week (I’ll be recording two episodes at a time).

The best part is, I only work in my business from 12:30pm – 6pm. All the hours before that are me going through my morning routine, hitting the gym, then cooking and enjoying a fabulous lunch.

I hope you enjoyed this wrap up! Until next time!
