Hey Guys! I posted this story on Facebook but wanted to send this out as a Morning Motivation in case you missed it. I hope this gives you the courage and strength to pursue your dreams no matter what the outcomes are looking like right now.
This past weekend, I got to inspire women and share my knowledge about personal branding and business alongside several other brilliant women.
All because a Girl CEO named Caroline Matthews set out to accomplish her dream of hosting a workshop across the world to bring creative entrepreneurial women together. And so today, I want to share with you a little lesson that I learned about having unwavering faith even when you don’t have all the answers…even when the odds are stacked AGAINST you.
[sc name=”Lead Magnet”]It was only about 8 weeks ago, that Caroline Matthews told me that she was committed to putting on this event even though she had no clue how she was going to make it happen. I won’t go too much into why because I truly believe this is Caroline’s story to tell.
For those of you guys who don’t know, Caroline is from the UK, which means that when you put on an event in a place like Los Angeles, CA, it’s like 1000x harder because you’re doing an event outside of your home country in a really expensive place. And when you’re a solopreneur, that means you’re doing it pretty much without a team.
When Caroline told me she wanted to do this, as the good ol’ accountability buddy that I am, I was like woo go for it! But I knew she had so many hurdles to overcome, planning a huge workshop overseas. And I would be a total fraud to say that when Caroline told me all of the hurdles she would have to overcome personally to make this happen, deep down inside, I was like uhhh…but at the end of the day I truly believe that when a woman decides she is going to get what she wants, nothing can stop her so I encouraged her to just go for it.
Long story short, everything that could possibly go wrong went wrong. And when I say wrong, I mean I can pretty much guarantee that 98% of us would’ve thrown in the towel. Especially, when the venue spaces you keep booking, keep pulling out.
But unlike the 98%, Caroline kept going.
✨ She kept going even when it appeared at every turn she was destined to fail.
✨ She kept going even when she didn’t know how she was going to come up with all of the money in a super short amount of time for a super expensive place.
✨She kept going even when people cancelled on her.
And guess what? Not only did Caroline pull it off despite the odds, but her event was seriously one of if not the best events I’ve been to in the last year. But even more importantly, witnessing her testimony made me look at myself and confront the very monster that I’ve been ignoring in my own mirror.
😳 Would I have given up after the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th no?
😳 Would I have given up even when it appeared at every turn that I was destined to fail?
😳 Would I have kept going if insert ___________ didn’t seem possible?
In the coaching industry, we’re often told that if things happening in our business are not “easy and flowly” that we’re doing it wrong.
When the truth is, the biggest, exciting and glamorous things that we want to build for our legacy / business are 99% of the times the most stressful, frightening, messiest things that we have to do.
But still, you gotta show up, not be afraid to create and innovate if you want to push the needle in your business.
You gotta be okay with creating that thing you want to do, even when the sales seem like they’re barely trickling in.
Because when you do, you may end up getting what Caroline got. An event where more than 30-40+ people show up, because the Universe met you where you decided to go.
So I wanted to end this long ass post with this:
It’s time you look at the monster in the mirror that is telling you that you’re not good enough for your dreams, and ask yourself, how much are you letting it control you and the decisions you make for your life and biz?
and then…
ask yourself the three questions I asked myself. How much is your dream worth? How easily are you willing to give up? What is your threshold?
