Why Your Brand and Business NEEDS A Youtube Channel

Video Marketing is seriously the Internet’s most powerful secret, yet only 9% of small businesses have a Youtube Channel.

I get it. For a lot of us, getting on camera is painful.

It doesn’t matter if you’re an introvert like me, despise public speaking, scared you can’t put together good content, or just feel your audience may pass out at the sight of your face: video is scary.

For me, the thought of Youtube was so terrifying, the first five videos I created happened only after a few rounds of vomiting and a ton of crying. Not even a glass of wine could save me. I just felt so freaking vulnerable as I dragged myself to the chair each time to turn on that camera.

If you’re currently feeling how I used to feel, well I have some pretty terrible news.

Currently, 50% of the internet traffic is video content. By 2019, it’s expected that 80% of all internet traffic will be video. So no matter how much video terrifies you, your Brand cannot afford to skip out on Youtube (or video marketing for that matter)!

In this post, I’m going to share…

  • Three reasons why your brand cannot afford to skip out on Youtube.
  • My personal experience with using Youtube to grow my email list.
  • How your brand can get started using Youtube for business.

1. Youtube Can Skyrocket Your Sales And Your Email List!

Have you ever thought about joining Youtube with hopes that you’ll reach a million subscribers and make thousands of dollars from Adsense and Brand Endorsements to the point that you can leave your day job?

What if I told you that even with a small following, you can use Youtube to grow your business, your email list and your income–all without ads and Brand Endorsements?

Well, you can!

As you’ve probably been told over and over again, email lists are where the money is at, and Youtube is KING when it comes to getting your audience to take action.

A month ago, a video I posted on Youtube received 144 views and from that one video, I received 45 sign ups to a brand new email list. This is pretty significant as it means 31% of people who watched the video signed up for my email list.

This is huugeeee. I’m quite sure I’ve never seen a blog post with such little views get nearly the same amount of sign ups in just a couple of days.

And while 45 email signs up may seem like not a lot, did you know that Jenna Hoard made $5k with her online course and an email list of just 30 people? I’ve got all the deets here.

After repeated tests on my passion channel, a channel that I don’t even promote, it makes me absolutely thrilled to test this out with GirlCEO’s new Youtube channel and scale it even further.

Beyond email list growth, I’ve seen first hand that Youtube is KING for clickable call-to-actions.

Between the verbal prompts, your video description, Youtube annotations and cards, there are so many ways for your Audience to come in contact with an opt-in or call-to-action.

As the video content strategist for the Lilumia Makeup Brush Cleaning Device, I’ve seen first hand, thousands of leads pour in from Youtube that converted into customers which catapulted Lilumia to become one of the best selling tech devices in the beauty industry!

So no matter if you’re thinking about selling a physical product, digital product or service, Youtube could be a huge game changer for your business, if you use it to build your brand and not just a Youtube channel.

And if you’re struggling to turn your blog into full-time income, and your brand doesn’t have a Youtube channel, you’re most likely missing out on a huge chunk of leads and conversions.

With these benefits alone, you can see why your brand and business NEEDS a Youtube channel.

So what makes Youtube so special?

First off, video increases engagement.

If a photo is worth more than a thousand words, video is worth at least a million.

Video is so powerful, it evokes more emotions in your audience than all of your Instagram photos combined. The type of emotions that make your audience want to take action.

2. Youtube Boosts Traffic and Increases the Likelihood of your Brand or Blog Ranking On Google

If you’re struggling to get your Blog and Business in front of your target audience, Youtube could be the answer!

Blog Posts with Video are 53 times more likely to rank on the front page of google.

According to Forrester Research, you are 53 times more likely to appear on the first page of Google results if you have video embedded on your website.

Search engines, and especially Google, really really really like mixed media.

Mixed Media is so important that Google prioritizes it even over keywords.

So if you’ve seen an influx of blogs using a combination of video, text, Images, PDF’s and the whole nine–I mean, of course they want to make their readers happy–but it’s really a secret trick that top bloggers and businesses utilize to get their blog post and website content to leap to the top of Google Search Results, thus bringing in more high-quality, targeted traffic.

I talk a lot about that in this post.

Google has a competitive spirit and favors content produced and shared across their platforms.

According to Wistia, this preferential positioning gives those who create videos on Youtube, a HUGE advantage in Google search over those who create videos on other platforms including Vimeo.

The advantage is so great 8 out of 10 video results that appear under Google Web Search belong to Youtube.

It also helps that Youtube is the second largest search engine behind it’s parent Google, processing more than 3 billion searches per month. So having a Youtube channel really gives your brand a second chance to be seen by a massively large audience.

So even if you forget to embed a Youtube video on your website, just posting videos on Youtube means that your video content will most likely rank higher than the content on your website, which means you’re only rewarding your Blog and Business with more opportunity for awareness.

And who doesn’t like opportunity?

This is why it’s better to embed a Youtube video with keywords related your blog within your blog post over uploading a video directly to your site or using Vimeo.

3. Youtube Is A Way to Humanize Your Brand In A Compelling Way

Social media shouldn’t be all about selling, right? Right!

Youtube is a great way for you to connect with and engage your audience.

But in general, video is the best way for you to humanize your brand.

And guess what?

Studies show that brands that are authentic, down-to-earth and just plain ol homie-like, make way more money than Brand’s that are stale, dry and distant.

This is because people don’t invest into products, they invest into Brands, and more importantly, they invest into what their friends say is dope!

So although the friend zone gets a bad rep, that’s exactly where your blog and business needs to be.

RIGHT. IN. THAT. FRIEND. ZONE.

With video, you can build an unforgettable personal brand as your customer gets to know your personality, see your face, and all of the little nuances and quirks that convey how special your brand is. Something that can only be done with video.

And because so many people are consuming it (like yeah, the average person spending at least two hours of their day watching online video) is really why so many social media platforms are rewarding Influencer’s that use video, and why so many Influencer’s and Digital Strategists are using it.

Most likely, you’ve seen this in the form of:

Instagram Stories

Facebook or Instagram Live

Webinars

Snapchat

And a ton of other stuff…

This is because people doesn't invest into products, they invest into brands. Click To Tweet

Although video in general is humanizing, Youtube allows you take it to a whole new level and actually provide a digital experience for your audience.

Youtube allows you to tell your brand’s story in a creative way with your own TV-Esque Network (But Better!)
